CMYK² by Owllys Packaging & Print Intelligence · Engineering the future of print & packaging

The Intelligence Behind Every Print.

Every printed product begins with an idea. CMYK2, the packaging and print specialist of the Owllys group, connects the artwork, premedia, prepress, colour, production and packaging work that turns it into production-ready output, so creative intent reaches the press intact.

For commercial printers, packaging converters and brand owners. Seven products · four plates · one print lifecycle, from brief to shelf and from estimate to outcome.

§ 01Engineering the future of print & packaging

The idea is the easy part. Getting it to press, in register, is not.

Turning an idea into production-ready artwork and consistent, high-quality output takes expertise, precision and coordination across many processes. Yet artwork, prepress, colour management, production and packaging workflows often remain disconnected, creating complexity, rework, delays and inconsistency.

Six disconnected steps: artwork, premedia, prepress, colour, production and packaging. At every hand-off work is re-keyed, re-proofed, re-made, re-run or re-packed.Artworkre-keyPremediare-proofPrepressre-makeColourre-runProductionre-packPackagingtoday: every hand-off is a place to lose time, colour or margin
Fig. 02 · The disconnected print chainEvery hand-off leaks time, colour or margin

CMYK2, by Owllys, is built to change that.

From artwork and premedia to colour intelligence, prepress automation and production optimisation, CMYK2 connects the processes and technology that turn creative intent into production reality.

§ 02What the name stands for

CMYK2

CMYK
The four-colour printing model every press, plate and proof is built on: cyan, magenta, yellow and key black. It ties the brand to the work.

The next generation of print technology: intelligent workflows, automation and AI, applied to every plate. Creative intent × production precision.
Four plates, four stages
We organise the print lifecycle the way a press does: four plates, each carrying one stage of the work, each set at its own screen angle.

Follow the idea through the press: created as artwork, matched to the plate, the colour and the law, yielded as good sheets, and keyed into the numbers that run the business.

§ 04The products

Seven products, ganged on one sheet.

Each product owns one part of the lifecycle and hands off to the next. Figures on the cards are design targets: what each product is engineered to deliver, not results we are reporting.

§ 05Closed loops

Every job should make the next one better.

ERPs record what happened. CMYK2 is designed to decide what runs next, and to learn from every press.

Two closed loops. Packaging: brief, concept, artwork and variants, comply and approve, print-ready file, then the next brief. Print: estimate, schedule, press, actuals, and the actuals re-price the next quote.BriefConceptNPDArtwork & variantsPackaging StudioComply & approveAPMSPrint-ready PDF/X-4Packaging StudioBrief to shelfpackaging loopEstimatePrint EstimationSchedulePressPilotPressPressConnectActualsPressConnectEstimate to outcomeprint loopOperix Print · one job recordactuals re-price the quote
Fig. 05 · Two closed loopsBrief to shelf · estimate to outcome

Brief to shelf. Estimate to outcome.

Packaging runs as one loop: a brief becomes concepts, artwork and variants, passes compliance and approval, and leaves as a print-ready PDF/X-4, ready for the next brief.

Print runs as the other: the estimate becomes a promised date, the press run becomes floor actuals, and the actuals re-price the next quote. Every job teaches the next one to protect your margin.

Follow one job round the print loop

§ 06The make-ready killer

Sequence by changeover, not by arrival.

Crore-rupee presses burn hours on wash-ups, plate changes and re-registers, because jobs run in the order they arrived rather than the order that is cheapest to set up. Try it: put the same six jobs in a different order.

A wash-up is counted whenever a lighter ink follows a darker one; each costs 25 minutes here. PressPilot uses your own changeover table (substrate, ink, plate, colour, coating, board) and a CP-SAT solver rather than this single rule.

§ 08Early partner programme

Shape the roadmap with us.

CMYK2 is built with the people who run presses and launch packs. Early partners decide what gets built next, and see their own numbers measured before and after.

  • Commercial printersSheet-fed and web: estimating, scheduling and the shop-floor numbers.
  • Packaging convertersFolding carton, labels, flexible and corrugated: artwork to dispatch.
  • Brand owners & packaging teamsArtwork, variants, compliance and launches across markets.

What early partners get

  • A say in what gets built next, and in what order
  • Early access, read-only first: nothing changes in your systems on day one
  • A baseline agreed in writing, so results are measured on your numbers
  • Your data stays yours, with deletion when a pilot ends

What we ask

  • One process owner who knows the work
  • A sample of real jobs, artwork or floor data
  • An hour a fortnight to review what we've built
§ 10Where to go from here

Every print starts as an idea. Let's get yours to press, in register.

Tell us where your process leaks: the concept round, the artwork rebuild, the preflight surprise, the wash-up or the quote that lost money.
